New Years Eve: A Confetti-Filled Reason for Fun

    November 30th, 2009 by admin

My new in-laws did not believe in celebrating a new year.  They lived in a small town and never questioned the tradition of having a quiet dinner on the last day of the year.  That first year I decided to hold a traditional New Years Eve party and explained we would not only have music and party food, but there would be lots of confetti thrown at midnight.  My new parents were doubtful about whether they would enjoy the event but by the stroke of midnight they were both giggling and toasting everyone.  I knew we had a success when my mother-in-law refused to shake the confetti out of her hair because she believed it “added something”.
