What can I do to protect us?

Do you remember ever picking the punks that grow in the ponds to burn to keep biting insects from bothering you out of doors? Those are the cattails that grow and then you dry them and set them on fire. They smolder, and I am not sure if it is just the smoke and slow burning that does it or not. Using old home remedies and some healthier organic mosquito control methods is my goal this year. I am seriously worried about our health and that of our beloved honey bees. Where would we be without our bees to provide us with blooms and our food?
