The Patent Cooperation Treaty, or the PCT was formed in 1970, then it was amended in 1979 and after that modified in the year 1984 and again in 2001, according to the World Intellectual Property Organization website. The PCT was put into place to try and protect those who need to patent their intellectual property in more than one eligible country. This patent act is best for those wishing to accomplish more than one patent at one time. Eligibility for this treaty consists of being a resident of a “Contracting country,” among other qualification standards. For more information, contact the website, or your local patent office.
